Jeremy Allen Pursell was born November 28th, 1976, in Joliet Illinois. He spent most of his life as an artist, designer, and composer, living mainly in and around Morgantown, WV. He is currently residing and working in Columbus, Ohio.

Jeremy is an artist who works in a variety of media. With a conceptual approach, Pursell wants to amplify the astonishment of the spectator by creating compositions or settings that generate images that leave traces and balances on the edge of recognition, alienation, and viewer introspection. Both psychology and mathematics play key roles in his processes.

Pursell tries to increase the dynamic between audience and author by objectifying emotions and investigating the duality that develops through different interpretations. He likes to involve the viewer in a way that is sometimes physical and believes in the idea of function following form in a work.

In art and music, his works appear as dreamlike states in which fiction and reality meet, well-known tropes merge, meanings shift, past and present fuse. His works establish a link between a landscape's reality and that imagined by its conceiver. His collected, altered and own works are being confronted as thematically interrelated material for memory and projection.

In design, his work is motivated by client and viewer experience. By focusing on techniques and materials, Pursell plays with transitory appearances. His media artworks are notable for their perfect finish and tactile nature. He creates work in which a fascination with the clarity of content and an uncompromising attitude towards conceptual and minimal art can be found. By applying a wide variety of contemporary strategies, he considers designing a craft which is executed using clear formal rules and which should always refer to social reality. Pursell's custom and contracted solutions aim to provide environment and identity in presentation.
